  • Prayer Alert: On May 4, 2006 MA Supreme Court hears challenge to Marriage Amendment
    Jeff Marks writes: Next Thursday, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court will hear arguments about the constitutionality of the Marriage Amendment. Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) filed suit earlier this year challenging the language of the Amendment, citing Attorney General Tom Reilly as a defendant. The suit, filed on behalf of a Cambridge woman, claims that the Amendment violates the state constitution because it seeks to overturn a judicial decision, which is expressly prohibited in the constitution.
