  • Greater Boston Church Planting Collaborative: Three discussions on church planting
Ralph Kee writes: Greetings from the Greater Boston Church Planting Collaborative. Someone recently asked me if GBCPC offers an urban church planting class. I'd loved to facilitate the following three discussions if there is an interest. Greater Boston needs church planting movements.

    Thursday evening, Feb. 22

The two imperatives: 1) Kingdom-permeated new churches 2) metastasizing church planting movements. Toward a disambiguated church planting vocabulary.

    Thursday evening, March 1

The apostolic task and the subsequent tasks: prophetic task, evangelistic task, pastoral task, pedagogical task, diaconal task. Where is the energy center for apostolistic church planting?

    Thursday evening, March 8

Intentionality and contingency in church planting movement genealogies.

No academic credit, no financial cost, no whimps.

If you would like a copy of the 200 page book I have written/am writing, based on a particular scion of church planting in Boston over the last 35 years, entitled Hub Church Planting Redescribed, the thinking which underlies concepts so briefly hinted at above, that will cost you 20 smackers (that's what it costs me to make a copy). Knowing something of what is in the book could flesh out the three evenings considerably. The book is based on a cumulative case study, 1971 to the present, of a metastasizing, apostolistically-intermittent, ecumenically-accommodating congrevangelizational graph ( aside:is that a smile disguised as a groan that I hear?).

Wondering if there are some out there in Gypsyland (GBCPC can be lovingly pronounced "gypsy") who are feeling called to start or be part of a Boston-based church planting (apostolistic) movement (intentional sequential church planting), or in just starting a new church (a new Jesus community, a community He will be proud of) and would be interested in the three conversations.

If you're interested in these three discussions, in tweaking the church planting discourse, in adding your own (human) agency to the Great Commission imperative, but the scheduled days/time is impossible for you, let me know and we'll see if adjustments can be made.
