• NECP: January 30, 2007 - Prayer Link #272
Jeff Marks writes: Yesterday I gave a short message to the New England Alliance, a group of people seeking God for transformation in New England. It was on the book of Joel. This morning, the phrase “Rend your hearts and not your garments” began to really reverberate within me. The Lord was asking me: “Is your heart rent? Do you have the Father’s heart, the Son’s heart?” Am I weeping over what’s happening to the Church and the nation? Having a broken heart for these things is more than a sermon or a reading. Is your heart broken, rent?

Duncan Campbell, God’s instrument in the Hebrides revival in 1750, asked the question also. Are our hearts broken? Do they burn with the fire of God? Please pray that prayer for yourself and for all of us. When our hearts are broken, God is very near.

Congress 2007, Feb. 1-3, Hynes Convention Center, Boston:

This is the last Christian gathering called “Congress” sponsored by Vision New England that will be held in Boston. The theme is “Whatever It Takes….” If you are willing to donate 1/3 of your time at Congress to pray for the event, the speakers, the weather, travel, the attendees, etc, you can do so in the Prayer Rooms on the third floor. You can then obtain a pass to attend some of the seminars and workshops. The Prayer Rooms will be open Thursday afternoon, Friday, and Saturday. Please contact Edson Porto at collegeprayers@aol.com. Special prayer for college and high school students will take place on Friday and Saturday in Room 206 from noon to 1:30 pm. Come and pray or be prayed for!

Please pray especially for David Bryant who will be speaking on the supremacy of Christ at the concert on Friday night; this is a powerful message for all Christians.

    Mashpee Psychic Fair:

The Mashpee Public School district has chosen to offer a Valentine Psychic & Health Fair as a Fundraiser for the Post-Prom Safe Haven Event. The Fair will be held on Saturday, Feb 3, 2007 at one of the Mashpee elementary schools, Quashnet School on 150 Old Barnstable Road at the same time that children will be in the gym for the beginning of Indoor Soccer. During this event there will be well know Mediums, Palmists, Tarot Readers, Psychics, Spirit Artists, Practitioners of Reiki and Reflexology, Massage Therapists, & Energy Healers. The event runs from 10am to 5pm. Please come and silently walk around the Quashnet School next Saturday in prayer for the children as well as for all those involved in this event. Pray that God would do something to overcome the evil with good. (In addition, please be praying throughout the week for a snow storm over Mashpee to cancel the event.)

Please pray for the Parkers and the Wirthlins:

In April 2005 David and Tonia Parker did not want their kindergartner exposed without their permission to the concept of homosexuality and same-sex marriage. The Parkers discussed their wishes with everyone in the school system, from the teacher, to the principal, to the anti-bias committee, to the school committee, to the superintendent. The school system refused to concede even a little bit to the Parkers' polite but firm insistence on their rights as parents. The result was an arrest for David on criminal charges and a night in jail. One year later, Robb and Robin Wirthlin joined the Parkers in their lawsuit, when their second grader told about reading "King and King", in which a prince spurns all the princesses and decides to "marry" another prince. The criminal charges have been dismissed. The civil case is beginning on February 7.

Please pray for the Parkers and the Wirthlins this week, and especially on the 7th. If possible, come to the John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Way, Boston. Note: This is not near the State House. It's across the Fort Point Channel, off Northern Ave.

Time: Wednesday February 7, 11AM. The case will be heard at 2pm.

    The NH Front:

On Thursday, February 1, CACR 1, which states: “PROVIDING THAT: marriage between one man and one woman shall be the only legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this state” (SPONSORS: Rep. Dumaine, Rock 3; Rep. Itse, Rock 9; Rep. Boyce, Belk 5; Rep. Headd, Rock 3; Rep. N. Elliott, Hills 19) has a public hearing at the State House in Concord before the Judiciary Committee. Please come to the rally to protect marriage in front of the State House at 9 AM. We need people who support marriage between one man and one woman to be present.

Additionally, those who would like to expand the definition of marriage are using many avenues to establish some foothold in NH law, which is very tight.

Currently there are bills to establish civil unions,

    · to allow 2 unmarried adults living in a familial relationship to adopt,

    · permitting same sex couples to register domestic unions and have the same rights as married couples,

    · extending medical and surgical benefits to domestic partners

    · requiring insurance coverage for the cost of hormone treatment drugs for transsexuals

    · recognition of out of state marriages (i.e. MA)

    · relative to religious freedom and civil marriage (sponsored by the Executive Director of Freedom to Marry and also by a plaintiff to the MA residency law on marriage who is on the board of Freedom to Marry)

Please pray that these bills will fail.

Please pray for the National Prayer Breakfast which takes place tomorrow morning in DC. Many national and international leaders attend and hear the testimony of Jesus.

    Graffiti on the Capitol steps:

During last Saturday's Washington rally protesting the war in Iraq, hundreds of anti-war protesters were allowed to desecrate government property by spray painting the Capitol with anarchist symbols. Capitol Police Chief Phillip Morse ordered his officers to fall back and allow the protesters to exercise what he called "their First Amendment rights" to spray paint the Capitol steps with graffiti. The war protesters were given access and leniency to deface government property. According to Family Research Council, public employees had to come in on their day off, at taxpayers' expense, to clean up the mess the protesters left behind.

Please pray for the pastors’ and leaders’ prayer summit that will take place Mar. 20-22, in Sharon, MA. For more info, contact Pastor Tom Griffith, tgriffith@rolcboston.org.
