Pastor Raffoul Najem from Community Christian Fellowship in Lowell announces: CCF Lowell is honored by this second visit from Dr. Bigpond, an acknowledged leader in the native American reconciliation movement.

Community Christian Fellowship is an international, charismatic, family church, praying for revival in New England and beyond. Pastor Najem said: “When we pray for spiritual revival, we understand that God may first identify areas of sin or unfinished business." The move toward reconcilation began when several members of the CCF Lowell congregation approached Pastor Najem with a sincere concern for the many injustices that had been done to the Indian people in this area.

During the Reconciliation Service in February, Dr. Bigpond accepted an apology from Pastor Najem on behalf of the Native American people for all injustices inflicted upon the Native Americans in the name of God.  During the service, Pastor Najem washed Dr. Bigpond's feet, as Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.

With a governmental mantle from the Lord, Dr. Bigpond focuses on reconciliation and forgiveness. In his moving personal testimony before the U.S. Senate Indian Affairs committee last year, Dr. Bigpond said: "I believe that acknowledging past atrocities and asking the indigenous 'first nations' people of this land for forgiveness is needed as a 'first step' for a healing of the land now called America to be released. This will be a healing not just for Native American people, but all the people of  this land – Black, White, Hispanic and Asian – all ethnic groups. Many ethnic and immigrant backgrounds have been involved since the 'first contact' by Columbus and others."

Dr. Bigpond is making a very important movement toward reconciliation that is so significant for Native people not only in America, but here in Canada as well, who are desperate for such occurences. As an Ojibway Christian woman, I am struggling, as are many of my people to find unity and harmony within the church due to a lack of reconciliation, and this is an absolute necessary advancement for the future of our Nations. Thanks. Miigwetch.
