Bethany Yeo:
A vision and prayer for JHOP Boston - August 2006
Bethany Yeo recently gave an update on JHOP Boston at Congregation Lion of Judah. Click below to read the transcript and to view the presentation.
I know that from the very first time we’ve started mobilizing for the forty days that God really yoked my heart to gather here [Congregation Lion Of Judah (ed.)] with your pastoral leadership and with this congregation.
And so, you guys have been a huge, huge blessing and support, probably more than you could ever know. But just in summary for anybody that doesn’t know: March 1 through April 9th we hosted forty days of fasting and prayer in Cambridge and we are actually at the Cambridge Baptist church about a mile from Harvard. And the main focus of the forty days was contending for revival, another great awakening in New England and praying that the door to false ideologies that come out of Harvard would be closed.
Just understanding the significance first and foremost of the really spiritually of New England, but also specifically the universities and how it shakes the mind and the culture of the generation and the nation. And just realizing that there has to be a contending for the false ideologies.
And there was a very specific dream that came out through the forty days and that dream was this man saw there was a whole generation and there was welts on the temples of their mind, like on the temples of their heads. And when he saw the welts he didn’t quite understand what they were and he asked the Lord, he said ‘What are those welts?’ And the Lord said to him, he said ‘It’s poison ivy on the mind of a generation.’ He said ‘a whole generation, their mind has been poisoned’, and he said ‘the ivy leaves were intended to be the leaves of healing to bring the light and the glory to the nations of the world. And instead they brought poison to the mind of the generation.’
And really that dream what it symbolizes is the redemptive purpose of the ivy leaves. And so, we’re actually, we just moved into a house recently where we’ve set up the house of prayer in Cambridge, and the Lord has really blessed us.
The name of our street actually means ‘the highest point of the hill’. And the Lord just began speaking to me as I was searching it out, about Moses. When you read that passage in Exodus 17, it actually says that Moses went to the top of the hill and that’s the passage that talks about the battle that was taking place. And as it was taking place on the grounds that Moses was out making intercession and whenever he put his hands up there was breakthrough and there was victory and they were winning. But whenever he put his hands down there was losing and they were defeated.
But really the analogy is in the body of Christ. It takes both the air troops, those in intercession and those contending in heavenly places and the ground troops, working together. It’s not one without the other. But really justice house of prayer exist for the purpose of seeing revival, transformation and reformation. But we believe that it can’t happen apart from seeing a spiritual shift, that there has to be a spiritual shift over Massachusetts, over New England and over the universities.
But in order to see a spiritual shift we have to see the spiritual climate change over a region. And really we believe that the only way that the spiritual climate can change is through the consistent contending worshiping and intercession to pound and keep on pounding and every parable, like when you study the book of Luke, the parables on prayer, there’s always the significance of the issue of persistence, to knock and keep on knocking, to ask and keep on asking.
And the amazing thing is the house that we’ve just moved into it’s number 62 and I really felt that it was significant specifically for the person …. that Isaiah chapter 62 has always been so significant for me.
And I’m just going to read this and then briefly I’m just going to pray for New England. And I just want to say we’re trying to figure out as far as collaborating because the house of prayer doesn’t exist onto itself, it’s a part of the greater body here in Massachusetts and in New England, to see spiritual shifting in the heavenlies so that we can all see what we’ve been contending for: the greatest revival on the history of man.
And I believe that we’re about to see it, but it requires that place of persistence and intercession: to knock until, like the word until it’s the place of resolve, that we don’t begin knocking, we don’t begin seeking and then relent when the answer or the fulfillment tarries, but we stand in that place until we see the fulfillment of those things.
And Isaiah chapter 62 it says “…. For Zion’s sake, or we could say for America’s sake, because really Massachusetts and New England is the key to the nation here.
“….for America’s sake I will not hold my peace, for Jerusalem, or we could say, for New England’s sake, for Massachusetts’ sake…., I will not rest until her righteousness goes forth as brightness and her salvation as a lamp that burns. The gentiles shall see your righteousness and all kings your glory, you shall be called by a new name…” and it goes down further to verse 6 and says “…. I have set watchmen on your walls, oh Jerusalem, that they shall not hold their peace day or night”.
It continues and then down further it says “… and I will give him no rest until he establishes and until he makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth”.
And this is the kind of resolve that we need for New England and for Massachusetts and even for Harvard. “…..until he makes Harvard a praise in the earth instead of Harvard exporting false ideologies, instead of Harvard raising up justices for the supreme court that are exporting and even making ungodly decrees over a whole nation.
We need to see such a reversal that institution was intended for the glory of God. It was intended to raise up ministers of the gospel. And actually pastor Roberto said to me at the beginning of the 40 days, he said ‘Bethany, we as believers hold the deed’, because of the covenants and it’s the same as true for New England and for Massachusetts because this land, this territory, those universities were covenanted, so we stand in a place of authority.
And I’ll close with this. What are the words that were spoken was by Derrick Prince was in 1972 and he said that Boston is the Jericho of the United States. And the Lord said that when I cause the walls of intellectualism to fall in Boston I’m going to pour out my spirit across the whole land. And not in a prideful way, but those of us that live in this land really need to see the significance and the ramifications of what takes place here.
Like I said, it’s not a pride but it’s a place of honor, of understanding, that we are the womb of the nation. There is a place of spiritual authority and taking those words….. So many times we hear things and they become repetitive and it’s makes us careless to them and we think, ‘oh, I’ve heard that word time and time again’, but we have to remain in the place of reminding God of unfulfilled promised. And there are so many unfulfilled promises and taking those words, because the prophetic is an invitation, it’s an invitation to us.
It doesn’t mean that it’s just going to happen because it was spoken, it means it’s an invitation and depending upon our response. So, we have come, you know, I’m actually from Massachusetts but the people that are part of JHOP are not from this state, or even from this region. But they have come to lay down their lives in intercession and we have come to this place to lay hold of the prophetic promises.
So, God we ask what is a company of people even gathered here tonight, God we ask that we will have the resolve of Isaiah Chapter 62. God that it will be the resolve of our spirit, Lord, until, Lord, you make Massachusetts a praise in the earth. Lord until, Father, her glory and her brightness goes forth as a burning lamp.
God we ask so that you will put, Lord, such a place of resolve inside of us. God that we would knock and keep on knocking. God that we would seek and keep on seeking. God, I thank you, Father God that we would be, Lord, even like the persistent widow.
God I ask that that place of persistence would so be forged within the very spirit of New England. God, I ask so that we would not despise even the place of delay. But God, I ask you for such a breaker anointing to come upon this region. God that we would break through in the heavenlies and God that you would even release ….. strategy and tools and intercession.
God that we would break open the heavenlies and God we do ask, God, that you would change the spiritual climate over Massachusetts. God every place with the false ideology, every place that humanism, God every place that intellectualism has ruled in this land. We just speak this night, God that there would be humility and reverence to the one who was found worthy and that you would be exalted in Massachusetts.
God we thank you, Father God, that you would raise up the house of prayer to contend with every other house. Lord, that it would contend against the house of humanism, that it would contend against the house of Islam. And God, we just thank you, we ask, Lord that the Islamic spirit, Father God, that it would not come into Massachusetts.
God we ask so that it would not be the prevailing influence over this state, because we speak even this night, that the spirit of God would be the prevailing influence over the state of Massachusetts. That the spirit of God would be the prevailing influence over Harvard University. That the spirit of God would be the prevailing influence over our state house, over our senators, and over those in the judicial system.
God we thank you for the shifting, God, in Massachusetts and as Massachusetts is the spirit of America, God that as we see it shifting this state, God that we will see it shift for a whole nation. God we just thank you, Father God, that you would forge inside of us, God, the spirit of prayer and the spirit of intercession, Father.
God we ask, Father, for a contending army, God, a contending army in this state to arise. God, even like Ezequiel with the valley of dry bones, God we thank you, Father God, that you are shaking Massachusetts even now.
God we thank you, Lord, that even now God, you are shaking New England with the prophetic spirit. And God, you’re awakening sons and daughters and God we call forth, Lord, that contending army to come forth out of the valley of bareness.
We prophesize life over New England, we prophesize life over Massachusetts. We prophesize life over the universities in the name of Jesus. Thank you, Father.
