JHOP Boston Uprising:
Update Day 13 - March 13, 2006
Cambridge MA (March 13, 2006) Madeleine Prendergast writes: About 40 kids were gathered in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church, 5 Magazine Street, Central Square, Cambridge. Many of them will join Lou Engle in a water fast, or a liquid fast, for the next three days, coinciding with Purim. Some of the words which were spoken tonight:
"We cry out for Your glory to flood Harvard,
We cry out for Your glory to flood MIT,
We cry out for Your glory to return to Your Church,
We cry out for Your glory to flood Iraq.
Nothing less than Your glory can save this nation.
Our churches need Your glory.
We see Your glory invading our Supreme Court
and taking over our State House."
"Raise up Annas in this house.
We would minister before You day and night.
God, that You would kiss New England once more."
"My children, I'm pleased with you because you've sought My face.
I will seek after you.
You will see my glory like you've never seen it before.
Get ready, get ready.
I will increase My anointing.
It will increase. It will penetrate the walls of this church.
It will pour out onto the streets.
It will flood the streets.
It will reach Harvard.
Thank you for being faithful."

Lou Engle offers the following meditation on the Purim fast:
If I Perish, I Perish!
“Go gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast like wise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law, and if I perish, I perish” – Esther 4:16
The greatest crisis that ever faced the Jewish nation occurred in the time of Queen Esther. Urged on by the wicked Haman, the king of Persia gave an order for the complete annihilation of all the Jews in the Persian empire. Such an event would have surpassed the Holocaust of World War II in its scope. Nehemiah, Ezra, along with the millions of other Jews, would have been butchered.
Esther, providentially promoted to the position of queen of the Persian kingdom, was confronted with a choice that would not only impact her, but an entire people group. When faced with this life-and-death decision, Esther seized her defining moment and chose the path of an intercessor over the plank-walk of self-preservation. She called her people to three days of united and intense fasting that propelled her into the high court of heaven, which, in turn, gave her authority over the high court of Haman. She risked her life to save her people and said, "...And so I will go to the king, which is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.”
The result of Esther’s massive prayer and fasting movement utterly reversed the Persian policy and Haman’s decree of mass destruction. Haman was hung on his own gallows and Esther was given his house! The Church is not at the mercy of political decrees of destruction; Jesus is the Lord of history! Though Haman-like decrees stand today, they will not stand forever. God is the One who reverses the edicts of man using the Church as an agent of a righteous revolution to displace kings and overthrow their decrees through the ancient weapons of fasting an prayer.
For the next three days the Jewish people around the world celebrate Purim in remembrance of their deliverance from Haman’s anti-Semitic ploy of extermination. As it was in Esther’s day, so it is today. Another decree of destruction has gone out from a Persian king. Recently, the President of Iran quoted almost to the letter Psalm 83:4: “...They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.’”
The ancient Prince of Persia is rising again, but Esther too is arising! In the next three days, let us intensify our fast and restrain the Prince of Persia and the rising spirit of jihad in the earth. Let us call on God to loose his archangels to contend in heavenly places for the security and salvation of Israel.
Like the decree of death issued against Israel, a similar decree of death, Roe v. Wade, went out 33 years ago to wipe out a generation. Let us call on God for another shift on the Supreme Court and for President Bush to nominate another Supreme Court justice who will rule for LIFE. Let us contend for the removal of Haman from the US Supreme Court so that the shedding of innocent blood would end.
Again, in this time of crisis, the answer is the collective fasting of God’s people.
“Is it true today that when people pray, cloudless skies will break, kings and queens will shake? Yet it’s true! I believe it! I’m living for you!” – Martin Smith
Prayer:
God of heaven, move Your Church into massive fasting and prayer in this Esther moment. We stand in the victory of the cross of Christ who is far above all rule and authority. We call forth a restraining order on the raging power of anti-Semitism and hatred in the spirit that stands against Your people, Israel. Lord, look on their threats and crush their decrees. Save Jerusalem, the apple of Your eye. Father, for all the unborn children, arise and end the decree of destruction. Reverse Roe v. Wade. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
