Boston Solemn Assembly:
April 9, 2006
Jeff Marks writes: The Black Ministerial Alliance is taking the lead on planning a Solemn Assembly in Boston for April 9th. Details are still being worked out, but the basic purpose will be to gather across denominational, cultural, and economic lines as an expression of our Christian unity; to publicly repent for our sins against God and each other; to unite against the demonic strongholds of drugs and violence that threaten the peace, prosperity and safety of our city.
Dale Atlas writes: In a recent meeting of pastors and leaders at Leon de Juda, the
importance of churches in Greater Boston and beyond coming together to
pray about the increasing violence in our city streets was discussed.
April 9th is the date. Jamie Bush summarized this in his e-mail, copied
below.
We cannot afford to ignore the significance of this most
important gathering. Please pen in this date in your calendar now.
For the glory of our Lord,
Dale Atlas
Brothers and Sisters around Boston,
This April 9th, Palm Sunday, will mark the culmination of a series of
events that may change the city for years to come. More on that later
but for now:
Please mark your calendars, get a sitter if you need one, and make a
plan to be in Boston's inner city on Sunday afternoon, April 9th.
The Black Ministerial Alliance is desperate for help after years of
escalating violence in their neighborhoods and has asked the whole
church to come join them in prayer for the whole City of Boston. This
is our place, these are our family in Christ, and this is something we
need to do.
Details will follow on time, place and specifics but please make a plan
to:
1. Be there.
2. Alert your church
3. Be in prayer about the event
4. Be in prayer for the pastors who are involved on a daily basis.
God loves it when we pray and ask Him for help and He loves it even more
when we do so arm in arm.
God loved us first.
